Road to Nowhere Welcome to the Road2Nowhere

Andy and Jim and Matt are going to embark on a crazy adventure to drive to Ulan bataar, Mongolia in a car with an engine under 1.0.

Why you might ask.. we're a bunch of plonkers, it seems like a good road trip and we can raise some cash for charity! Its going to take us 4-6 weeks traveling around 10,000miles as long as our motor makes it passing through possibly 15 countries (inc. Europe, Russia, the ‘stans’ (not Afganistan!) and Mongolia)

Please help us raise money for charity (Mercy Corp and CAMDA), which we need to raise a min of £1000. If you visit
www.willwemakeit.com/road2nowhere

and register with the them you can donate money to charity or you can vote to whether you think we will make it to Mongolia which costs £1.20, and is donated straight to the charities.

If you would like discuss corporate sponsorship for the car - i.e. having thousands of people seeing your logos on our car, please contact us. This can be far far cheaper than advertising in a local newspaper or magazine, and is likely to end up with a lot more exposure. Alternatively if you would like to help us out with equipment please have a look at our Kit Wish List. We would be very grateful for anything on the list, new or used, as long as it is in serviceable condition. We'd also gratefully receive donations of any goods or services of any value. Even things completely irrelevant to motoring can be of use. For instance, items can be used as prizes in a fund raising raffle - or sold on ebay to raise funds. So literally anything donated is appreciated.

Greetings from Ulaanbataar. Its been a while since last been on this and updated it so appologies! It took us 6 weeks and 3 days to reach UB covering 18 countries. We had numerous problems with our car from the exhaust falling off and sounding like a tractor to holes in the chassis that needed rewelding, adding springs to our leaf suspension to give us some ground clearance back as we heading through kazakhstan and even having the car roll over and survive, which I will mention more about later.

Europe and some of the nice roads seems like a thing of the past now! We had some interesting roads.. if thats what they can be called in Mongolia and Azerbaijan. Europe flew by and the first country we didnt like was Romania, which is somehow in the EU! The roads werent very good and it rained a lot so I think it tainted our view of the place but the coast line was a little nicer. Bulgaria was dramatically different and seemed a lot cleaner and friendlier, but they have some interesting food dishes which seem to include most parts of the meat.. I say meat as you dont always know what animal its from!

Turkey was a really nice country and we really enjoyed Istanbul, its a really bustling city and we took a couple of days off there to relax and have a Turkish bath (getting beaten up by a big Turkish man!). As we headed east the rain caught up with us again and we drove a lot to get to Georgia and out of the rain. Georgia as soon as we crossed the border felt different, they still had crazy drivers but as we found out if a road closes you just follow everyone else for...[Read More]
